The pyramids of egypt were built as the final resting places of the Pharoahs. Their four sides stood for the four directions, the four ages of man, and the four elements. Their bases cover a large area while thier tops come to a single point. This symbolized the one Pharoah ruling over the wide land. As the resting place of the Pharoahs, who wre seen as the incarnation of the Sun God, Ra, the pyramids were revered as sacred objects; the meeting place of the earth and sky; of humanity and the Gods. The pyramids are among the oldest man-made structures in the world, and still evoke an awe that uplifts those who see them.

Pyramid - A symbol of ascension, pyramids in ancient Egypt were built as a representation of the worlds axis, with the body of the structure symbolising mans ascent to the heavenly skies, in particular the Pharoahs ascention to Heaven and the Afterlife. It also symbolized the sloping rays of the sun as a source of eternal strength and energy. Yet another symbolic idea is that they represent the Primeval Mound of Creation on which the sun-god was said to have been born.
